November 2, 2021, Banchiu Branch Station Water-saving Orchard Irrigation Equipment Demonstration Event

2022-02-16

Climate change is causing increasingly frequent extreme weather events leading to uneven distribution of precipitation: either successive days of downpour or extended periods of drought. Faced with the uncertainty of water availability, growers need to work together to boost their water-use efficiency. To promote water-saving orchard irrigation techniques, the TTDARES set up a demonstration area at the atemoya orchard of grower Jiang Jun-xian in Taimali and held the Water-saving Orchard Irrigation Equipment Demonstration Event there. They discussed water-conservation methods, shared experiences on how to set up and use related automatic irrigation equipment, and allowed attendees to try their hands at the equipment. People shared a lot about their own management methods and improved together by learning from each other.
