In selection and breeding of new plant variety, we have already owned the new plant variety right certified by Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan such as new plant variety of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.)- 'Taitung 4' (Red Zebra) in 2013. The Dianthus caryophyllus 'Taitung 1' (Fragrance Cloud), is the first Dianthus which got the new plant variety right in October, 2012. We also named the new plant variety of two crops which were daylily (Hemerocallis) 'Taitung 7' in 2012 and roselles. 'Taitung 1', 'Taitung 2' and 'Taitung 3' in 2010. In cultivation and new processing technology of horticultural crops, we have already transferred a lot of new technology such as ferns and mosses seedling propagation technology, propagation technology of Hibiscus 'Taitung 1' to 'Taitung 3', rice snacks processing technology, instant drink processing technology of traditional herbs and propagation technology of daylily 'Taitung 7'. Using Deep Ocean Water (DOW) in research and development of agricultural technology, we were focused on 3 projects : (1)Using DOW temperature controlled facility to improve flower quality of Nobile-type Dendrobium, (2) Using DOW temperature controlled facility to improve flower quality of Phalaenopsis.(3) Using DOW temperature controlled facility to establish production procedure of Coriandrum sativum in summer.
