2018 Lohas Herb Festival Was a Hit!

The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan held the 2018 Lohas Herb Festival at the TTDARES Fengli Experimental Grounds on the morning of Saturday, April 21. The event consisted of a number of activities, including the exhibition and sale of herbal essence oils and products produced by young farmers, a demonstration on how to cultivate 32 different types of herbs, a beautiful field of blooming garden cosmos, a DIY activity on making health-promoting and massage essence oils, a DIY activity on aromatic plant use and the making of herbal essence spray-ons, explanations on the cultivation of herbs in fields, and gifts of potted herbs. Nearly 1,000 people attended the event. Under the direction of a lecturer, attendees fully enjoyed making ball massage essence oils and herbal essence spray-ons. Afterwards, some people went to look at and purchase herbal essence oils and products on exhibition made by young farmers. Others preferred to enjoy and take pictures of themselves in the captivating colors of the garden cosmos flower field, documenting the heart-touching time they had that day with their cameras. Still others listened to explanations given by TTDARES researchers on the cultivation of herbs in fields, allowing them to further understand the skills and applications for such cultivation. The air permeated with the delightful fragrance of herbs, the event ended, and all who attended said it was very worthwhile and a great way to relax and spend the morning.
