In an effort to promote the healthy management of sugar apple orchards and improve general fruit production methodology, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held the Outstanding Sugar Apple Orchard Demonstration Event at the Donghe orchard of Chen Jilong on March 14, 2018. A large number of growers attended the event. TTDARES Deputy Director Chen Yu-chu stated that an outstanding orchard is not only defined by excellent-quality fruit but also a healthy, safe production process that is eco-friendly. The aspects of tree management, smart fertilization, safe use of agrochemicals, and environmental protection must meet the sustainable development target of satisfying the needs of consumers, growers, and the environment. At this event, winners of the 2017 Outstanding Sugar Apple Orchard Contest shared about the management of their orchards with the objective of propelling and improving sugar apple production technique and healthy orchard management concepts.
