TTDARES Holds “Introduction to Agriculture Course” to Train up New Growers

2017-04-20

In an effort to teach new farmers crop cultivation technique and give them an understanding of the overall condition of the agricultural industry, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan held an “Introduction to Agriculture Course” from April 18 to 20 at the TTDARES regional education center. 30 people attended the event.

While hosting the opening, Deputy Director Chen Yu-chu stated that those who attended the course were younger than in years past, which will help inject vitality into the industry. He encouraged the students to do their best to learn what would be offered during the informative course so as to gain a firm foundation for their futures as growers. He also reminded them that even after the course, the TTDARES will always be happy to offer any assistance they may need regarding agricultural questions or problems.

The class was highly informative, discussing topics such as TTDARES achievements in agricultural R&D, an overview of the industry, an introduction to agricultural machinery, special crops and grains unique to Taitung, measures to be taken against natural disasters, smart fertilization, and disease/pest control techniques. The students were indeed diligent and learned much, allowing them a greater degree of confidence in their futures as growers.
