Good Fruit Comes from Good Orchards ! Winners Announced for 2016 Atemoya Contest.

2016-02-02

Atemoyas are one of Taiwan’s major export crops. In an effort to promote healthy management of orchards and share the achievements of hard-working growers with the public at large, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan recently held the 2016 Outstanding Atemoya Orchard Contest. After evaluation of orchards and fruit quality, the winners have been announced! Liu Yan-ru once again won first place with her excellent orchard management and self-conducted inspections. Secretary Hsieh Jinn-lai of the TTDARES stated that the purpose of the contest is to allow more of the public to become familiar with this high-quality, locally-grown fruit. Another aim is to spread healthy management concepts among growers, boosting the overall quality of Taitung atemoya production in a win-win-win for consumers, growers, and the environment.

Atemoyas have a white, slightly al dente pulp that is sweet with a hint of sour, and being packed with vitamin C and dietary fiber makes them them both tasty and healthy! The TTDARES wishes to remind everyone that the best atemoyas are produced between December and April, so now is the time!
