New Time-Saving Tool for Millet Processing All-in-One Millet Thresher-Huller Demonstration Event

2015-12-28

The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held the “All-in-One Millet Thresher-Huller Demonstration Event” on the afternoon of December 24 at the Liqiu Community Activity Center in Jinfeng Township. The highlight of the machine is that it uses the power of the threshing machine to drive a mechanical sifter. Thus, time is saved as manual labor is no longer required for sifting after threshing has taken place. Then, a cyclone separator is used to send the millet into a hulling machine which removes the hulls and other small extraneous matter. After being hulled and winnowed multiple times, the grains then go into a sorter where rocks and other impurities are sifted out. The final result is pure, high-quality millet. Compared with the methods of the past that required manual labor and work to be separated into multiple phases, this machine raises efficiency by 3.5-fold. This demonstration event will not only lead to increased productivity and profit for growers, but will also create appeal to young growers to return to their homes and further develop the industry in their villages.
