Many fruit trees that need to be regularly hard-pruned or are deciduous are prone to sunscalding. In response, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held the Fruit Tree Sunscald Prevention Technology Demonstration Event at the orchard of grower Lin Po-hsuan in Beinan Township on March 19, 2025, which was attended by 49 growers. Attendees were shown how to prevent sunscald on fruit trees by using a specially equipped vehicle. The trees are sprayed with calcium carbonate and white glue, producing a whitewash that not only lowers the temperature of the surface of the branches but also diminishes the propagation of pests. The TTDARES encouraged farmers to view sunscald prevention with importance and use the technique demonstrated.
