Longicorn beetles and Formosan rock monkeys have long bothered fruit farmers, and dealing with them while not harming the environment has been a challenging issue of urgency. After years of research and experimentation, the TTDARES has developed physical means to eliminate longicorn beetle larvae (with a high-pressure air gun) and to keep monkeys away from trees (with a mesh cover). At the TTDARES Banchiu Branch Station orchard in Binlang on August 21, 2024, the TTDARES held the Eco-friendly Fruit Tree Monkey and Longicorn Beetle Control Techniques and Agriculture Disaster Prevention Information Seminar to provide farmers with related information. Also, to make it easier for farmers to obtain information on the weather to prevent disaster and to help them with applying for relief after natural disasters, an app for taking pictures of affected land was introduced at the event with the aim of reducing farmers’ losses.
