Growers Learn Much from Agricultural Machinery Operation and Maintenance Class

2024-06-28
To enhance farmwork efficiency through automation, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held the Farmers’ Academy—Advanced Class on Agricultural Machinery Operation and Maintenance from June 26 to 28, 2024. Instructors customized the class based on the participants’ backgrounds and practical needs in teaching about operation principles for such commonly used machinery as two-stroke and four-stroke engines, chainsaws, backpack brushcutters, self-propelled lawnmowers, remote-controlled brushcutters, high-pressure power sprayers, tea harvesters, inter-row cultivators, transport vehicles, and tractors. They talked in detail about mechanical structure, basic maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of the machines accompanied by demonstrations in the field to help participants learn what was being taught. Thus, the class established important concepts of machinery operation and taught participants how to independently maintain their tools, which will help boost the use of farm machinery in the future.
