To increase the amount of organic and eco-friendly farming, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan held the Organic and Eco-friendly Farming and Satoyama Initiative Promotional Lecture on January 16 at the Changbin Township Farmers’ Association Sales Expansion Center. Hosted by TTDARES director Chen Hsin-yen, Satoyama Initiative concepts were discussed along with such topics as fertilization management, smart fertilization, and eco-friendly rice management techniques. The TTDARES plans to become heavily involved in related technique development research in the areas of plant variety, cultivation, pest/disease control, and soil fertilization so as to continue furthering Taitung’s orientation toward organic and eco-friendly farming and to make Taitung into a Satoyama region in which people and nature coexist harmoniously.
