In order to give researchers a better understanding of the Satoyama Initiative and eco-agriculture concepts, the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan invited Lee Kuang-Chung, an associate professor from the National Dong Hwa University Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, to give a lecture on May 18. The purpose was to integrate research and guidance for the indigenous farming industry and ecosystem services with the existing promotion of organic agriculture in Taitung. In this way, agriculture, biological diversity, and the enhancement of sustainability for means of livelihood in rural areas can be carried out together on a relatively large scale, propelling the development of Taitung’s ecoagriculture.
