On October 17, growers from all over Taiwan attended the “Farmer’s Academy—Advanced Organic Grain Cultivation Class” held by the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
TTDARES Director Chen Hsin-yen stated that in recent years, the TTDARES has actively promoted the organic cultivation of grains in accordance with regional crop features so as to increase the benefits of such crops. In addition to continuing work on millet, pigeon pea, and Taiwan quinoa cultivation, the TTDARES is also helping growers improve their cultivation techniques and assisting them in the development of agricultural products. This is an active effort at providing consumers with healthy choices while encouraging growers to act as a human safeguard throughout the process of preparing their products for sale. In this way, growers will have a sense of responsibility to create safe products and bring the whole agriculture industry closer to the goal of producing healthy, safe food.
