The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station of the Executive Yuan’s Council of Agriculture (TTDARES) held its 2014 Year-End Press Conference and Agricultural R&D Achievements Exhibition on the morning of December 24. Nearly 20 different media representatives were present.
Of the many achievements made by the TTDARES this year, the following 11 major R&D items were selected to be included in the exhibition: “Local Variety Upland Rice R&D”, the newly developed Roselle variety “Taitung No. 5 Jili”, “Threeflower Tickclover Groundcover Production Technology”, “Millet Dumplings—New Snack Food Uses for Taitung Millet 8”, the newly developed Dianthus variety “Taitung No. 2 Summer Fragrance”, “Transport Vehicle with Attached Fertilizer Spreader R&D”, “Self-Propelled Small Seed Planter R&D”, “Use of Threeflower Tickclover Groundcover for Dragon Fruit Orchards”, “Techniques for Damage Control Caused by Monkeys”, “Multiple Application Technology for Organic Citrus Farming”, and “Sugar Apple Flower (Anther) Production Technology”. Also available for viewing were the latest releases of the technical journals A Look at Indigenous Farming Culture—Millet and a second printing of the Healthy Management of Atemoyas Manual.
Roselle tea, dried Murcott tangerine tea, and an innovative rice snack—Green Sprite Rice Dumplings—were available for sampling for attendees to taste firsthand delicious, healthy, locally-produced agricultural goods. Each achievement on exhibition received a considerable amount of media attention, and the TTDARES was affirmed for its diligence in R&D. The event was a good display of the hard work put in by everyone at the TTDARES toward local agricultural development. The TTDARES has taken on the leading role in local agricultural advancement so as to enhance development and competitiveness through the means of continual innovation and diligence.
