The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and the Daren Township Office will cooperate in putting on three days of class called “Management of Special Crops for Indigenous People” on November 4-6 at the Tuban Village Office in Daren Township. This year, the TTDARES has held “Indigenous Agricultural Action Classes” in Haiduan, Chishang and Jinfeng Townships. The main objectives of such classes are to expand the achievements brought about through experimental research as well as demonstrate promotional techniques. Based on local agricultural features and via on-site training, we are able to adjust the classes to any needs we may encounter. We offer basic agricultural knowledge and hands-on training in the field to improve crop management concepts of indigenous growers and push the development of local agricultural features.
The TTDARES stated that for this class in Tuban Village, the specific goal is to improve millet, roselle, and mushroom crop management techniques of indigenous growers. Moreover, hands-on training in the field will put knowledge acquired through research into active use (while sharing it with as many indigenous growers as possible) so as to promote the development of special features of the agriculture industry in tribal areas.
