Healthy Management for Annona fruits—Fruit Thinning Technology Demonstration

2014-06-03

Annona fruits (sugar apple and atemoya) are an important economic crop for Taitung as exports have grown in recent years. In order to boost profits, growers increase production via leaving a greater number of fruits on trees, though this often causes the trees to weaken or even die. We have done research on the appropriate numbers of Annona fruits to be left on trees and presented our findings through scientific data as well as a healthy management for Annona fruits—Fruit thinning technology demonstration. We trained growers on how much fruit should be left on trees in accordance with the physiological condition of trees to guarantee production, avoid premature ageing of trees, maintain fruit quality and allow industry sustainability.
