After six years of work on breeding of Nobile-type Dendrobium by the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TAITUNG DARES) of the Ministry of Agriculture the six varieties: Taitung Nymph, Taitung Golden Peacock, Taitung Panda, Taitung wedding, Taitung quartz pink, and Taitung positive passion were registered with the Royal Horticulture Society.
1. Taitung Nymph belongs to the five-finger color group, the edge of the petals has a light purple red color, the pedicel is stiff, the petals are flat, and the contrast is strong.
2. Taitung Golden Peacock belongs to the yellow color group, petals have pinkish shaded, naturally double-stalked, full blooming.
3. Taitung Panda belongs to the five-finger color group, petals have purple-red shaded, the flowers are round and lovely, and there purple-red round spots on the bottom of petals, which are very rare characteristics of the current commercial varieties.
4. Taitung wedding has a multi-stalked trait, with 3 stalks naturally coming out every year, with large flower-shaped rounds, bright colors, and strong contrast. The height of the plant is within 30 cm.
5. Taitung quartz pink has color-changing traits, the first flowers are light yellow, and then gradually turn to pink, which is a very rare feature in the current commercial varieties.
6. Taitung positive passion belongs to the yellow color group, mid-sized blooms, petals have red-purple shaded, and low temperature requirements, easy to bloom.
