Organic Agriculture Training Effectiveness Evaluation and Analysis of Working in the Agricultural Industry in Taitung

2021-03-02

This study, whose subjects were farmers who had joined organic agriculture trainings at the Farmers’ Academy, investigated their post-training professional knowledge and performance in the field. Based on the four levels of learning evaluation of the Kirkpatrick Model (reaction, learning, behavior, and results), the results show that training recipients mostly gave positive feedback regarding the organic agriculture trainings held by the Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES), and it indicated they are willing to continue with the trainings and recommend them to others. After training, the performance capacity of participants in various aspects was boosted, the most significant improvement being seen in the aspects of legal regulations and R&D. The subjects’ post-training behavior also changed, as they applied what they had learned from the trainings in their field management and farm operations, helping them obtain related certification. In the future, trainings on marketing will be held to continue to boost participants’ competitiveness. Organic farming is currently a major trend, and with the rise of the consciousness for sustainability, eco-friendly and safe agricultural products will gradually gain more attention. Through holding professional trainings, the TTDARES is providing farmers with knowledge, skills, and concept clarification to allow them to develop in the area of sustainable farming.
