The Dianthus ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ got the plant variety right in December, 2016. The business variety Dianthus ‘Dulce’, serving as the female parent, was interspecies hybridized to D. seisuimontanus, serving as the male parent. As the result of assessments, ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ was selected from all the F1 plants. The plant height of ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ is about 20-30 cm, the diameter of flower is about 5 cm. It can provide delightful effect for ornamental. It is easy to make flower beds when cultured in 12 cm pot or planted in the field. The flower color of ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ is pink(RHS N74B). It keeps light aroma when flowering and more obvious especially in sunny day and high luminous. The Dianthus ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ has apical dominance on early planting, when the apical bud height was 10 cm, the initiation of lateral bud was obvious. The first flower was open after planting 55-60 days, and was bloomed after planting 70 days. The Dianthus ‘Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer’ can grow and bloom year-round, with new horticulture characteristics of Dianthus flowers in Taiwan, also could be the good choice in heat-tolerant ornamental flowers on summer.
