Drying Organic Navel Orange Flowers

2016-07-19

Organic navel orange flowers are agrochemical-free. Besides being beautiful to look at, they may be dried out and used in a variety of ways. First, collect fallen flowers and buds. Wash them 2-3 times with water and then drain the water away. Finally, dehydrate them at 55℃for 15 hours with a food dehydrator, hot air circulator oven, or baking oven. The dried flowers will maintain much of their fragrance and end up golden in color. They may be used directly or stored in a dry, airtight container (with a desiccant). They may be steeped in hot water and drunk on their own as well as mixed with tea or other fruit/flower beverages. The dried flowers may also be ground into powder and used as flavoring in pastries or other foods.
