We have done research related to the processing of local agricultural products, devoting our efforts to commercialize and develope techniques with integrating of LOHAS concepts. We have developed products particular to Taitung that can be sold as souvenirs/gifts to promote the local tourism economy. We have also created new techniques for making puffed rice, Xian He teabags and sulfite-untreated dried daylily products. Puffed rice cakes are a traditional snack in Taiwan, and we used 'Taitung 30' variety rice to make this delicious treat. The grains are especially large, about 1.4 times larger than those of 'Taikeng 9' variety. The rice stores well and is great for making such snacks. Fancy, beautiful packaging has been developed for Xian He tea. The bags are easy to open so people in this busy, modern age can make their tea both quickly and conveniently. Finally, the development of sulfite-untreated dried daylily processing has not only injected life into the daylily industry, but has also created products that are of good quality and safe.

A variety of healthy, puffed rice products. Making a cup of instant Xian He tea is fast and easy with the tea bags we developed. We developed dried daylily products from variety 'Taitung 7' (left) through our sulfite-untreated processing. Its orange color is much more appealing than that of variety 'Taitung 6' (right). Dried daylily products from variety 'Taitung 7' developed through our sulfite-untreated processing (Sunshine Daylily).
