Development of the New Rice Variety Taitung 30
'Taitung 30' was registered by Taitung DARES on 2002. The commercial name is "ChiaHo", that means it is a growth well rice variety. This variety posses good agronomic characteristics, erect plant type, lodging tolerance, higher yield, good grain appearance, and good cooked qualities. It has resistant to rice blast, brown planthopper, and white back brown planthopper.
Development of the New Rice Variety 'Taitung glutinous 31'
'Taitung glutinous 31' was registered by Taitung DARES on 2005. This variety posses good agronomic characteristics, erect plant type, lodging tolerance, higher yield, good grain appearance, and good cooked qualities. It has resistant to brown planthopper and white back brown planthopper.
Development of the New Rice Variety 'Taitung 32'
'Taitung 32' was registered by Taitung DARES on 2009. This variety posses good agronomic characteristics, erect plant type, lodging tolerance, higher yield, good grain appearance, and good cooked qualities. It has resistant to rice stripe virus disease and brown planthopper. 'Taitung 32' can be used as the material to make glutinous oil rice, sushi and rice cake, and can replace part of glutinous products.
Development of the New Rice Variety 'Taitung 33'
'Taitung 33' was registered by Taitung DARES on 2012. The agronomic characteristics of this cultivar are 129 and 111 days of growth duration and 95.5 cm and 95.9 cm of the plant height for the 1st and 2nd cropping season, respectively. The panicle length is 18.8 cm for the 1st and 19.4 cm for the 2nd cropping season. The average grain yield of 'Taitung 33' is 6,623 kg/ha for the 1st and 4,771 kg/ha for the 2nd cropping season, 11.0% and 2.9% higher than 'Taikeng 9', respectively.
This variety has shown moderate resistance to rice blast and lodging, posseses erect plant type and good grain appearance. Eating quality is better than 'Taikeng 9', which is considered as a high quality rice variety in Taiwan.
