The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station (TTDARES) held the 2022 Evaluation and Conference on Rice Blast in New Rice Varieties on May 27, 2022, in the Guanshan township. It was hosted by Deputy Director Lu Po-song, and researchers studying rice blast and breading from each research institutes/research and extension stations of the Council of Agriculture were invited. This annual event looks at what are differences of the rice blast resistance among each variety or line,to figure out directions of breeding research.This year, the resistance of blast and planthoppers of 216 rice varieties (including commercial cultirars) was evaluated. Researchers carefully observed how each variety in the rice blast nursery reacted, and evaluated the disease and pests resistance of each variety, providing important reference data for selective breeding programs.
